Volunteers FAQ
This FAQ answers common questions for people who sign up to help as volunteers, as well as for admins who manage volunteer lists and preferences.
How do I sign up as a volunteer?
Use your organization's volunteer signup link (often on their website or in an email). Fill in your name, email, and any other details they ask for. Choose the areas you can serve and how often you want emails (e.g. right away, daily, or weekly). Submit the form; you'll see a confirmation and start receiving needs that match your choices.

How do I stop receiving emails (unsubscribe)?
Click Unsubscribe at the bottom of any email from the organization. Confirm on the page that opens. You'll stop getting new need alerts and updates. You can re-subscribe later using the "Manage preferences" link in a past email or by contacting the organization.

I'm getting a message that my email is already in the system. What does that mean?
Your email is already on the organization's volunteer list. You may have signed up before or someone added you. You can still sign in or use the claim form with that email. If you meant to use a different email, try that one. If you think it's an error, contact the organization or support.

How do I change my areas or how often I get emails?
Use the Manage preferences link in any email from the organization. On that page you can update your areas and email frequency and save. Changes apply right away.

What's the difference between a volunteer and a case worker?
Volunteers sign up to receive needs and claim ones they can help with. Case workers are staff who post needs, work with volunteers, and manage outcomes. Your organization may use different names for these roles; the labels in the app are set by your organization.

How do I add a volunteer as an admin?
Go to Admin > Volunteers and use the option to add a new volunteer (e.g. Add volunteer). Enter their name, email, and any other required details, and choose their areas. They'll receive an email to confirm or set preferences. You can also import volunteers in bulk if your plan supports it.
