Fire Safety Items

Families United Network Scranton Office is looking for donations of new/unused smoke detectors and fire extinguishers in order to assist emergency kinship foster homes in achieving/maintaining compliance for licensure.

Who This Helps

Filling this need will directly benefit kinship foster families that have received emergency placements of children in their home. Upon placement, homes are required to have working smoke detectors and fire extinguishers in order to be deemed safe and appropriate. In equipping our workers with a supply of smoke detectors and fire extinguishers, we are able to ensure that our families' homes are safe when children are placed in the home. Although many municipalities offer free installation of smoke detectors, there are many that do not. Our workers are also not able to leave children in homes without smoke detectors present, so this supply will alleviate any additional chaos during placement including the worker or caregiver leaving to purchase smoke detectors in order to complete placement.
