Child Care Assistance Needed

High
Overdue

Just one week ago, a child came into kinship care with little notice. A family stepped up immediately and opened their home so this child would not have to enter foster care with strangers. They did not hesitate. They said yes because they wanted this child to stay with people they know and trust. Like many kinship families, this placement happened fast. The caregivers are doing everything they can to keep life stable while continuing to work and provide for their household. In order to do that, the child needs full time daycare. The cost is $400/ per week. Right now, this expense is more than the family can manage on their own during this sudden transition. This family is asking for any level of support to help cover daycare costs so they can continue working and keep this child safely in their care. Even a small contribution can make a real difference. Your support helps keep a child in a loving family setting during a very uncertain time. Thank you for helping this family show this child they are not alone.

Gift Cards for Groceries and Gas

The family has become homeless within the last few months due to the father losing his job and the family being unable to afford rent. The family has been living in a camper for the last several months due to this. There is a spot in the camper floor that is sinking in, so the family has been having to put things over the spot to prevent it fully breaking through. Therefore, we would like assistance with getting a handyman to help fix the area or help with purchasing supplies for the family to attempt fixing it themselves. The family could also benefit from gas cards or gift card for food until they can get back on their feet. The family is working very hard, but they just need a little support.

House Cleaning

High
13 days left

Cleaning service is being requested to help prevent CYS placement from occurring. There are two kids, age 15 yrs and 11 yrs old. There are multiple mental health needs in the mother's home such as the kids having severe ADHD and OCD. The 15 yr old child is afraid of dirty air and uses hand sanitizer to the point where her hands are raw from the amount of hand sanitizer applied on daily. The kids struggle to be able to sleep in their own bedroom because there are large amounts of clutter and dirty items cover the area. The 15 yr old child sleeps on one small section of the couch, with the remaining parts of the living room furniture covered in clutter and dirty debris. The mother is diagnosed with depression and anxiety, and the mother is currently undergoing many doctor appointments for severe back pain which does not allow the mother to stand/walk for long periods of time. The mother was also recently diagnosed with diabetes. The mother has been unable to upkeep the cleanliness of the house. Children & Youth has monitored this decline in mental health and home status for several months. The family is out-reaching to the community asking for supports to help provide a professional cleaning service to help get the house back to a healthy household status to avoid CYS removal of the children. This family is open with many therapeutic services and are engaged in their services. The children's parents are divorced; the mother & kids resides 2 hours away from family supports. The children have minimal contact with their extended family due to their family not support LGBTQ communities.

Twin Bed Mattress, Dresser, Couch with Cushions Sewn

Medium
Overdue

Cumberland County Children & Youth Services recently conducted a home visit with a family whose children exhibit severe mental and behavioral health conditions. The family is composed of mother and father, who are fully employed. Mother works from home due to ongoing needs for care and supervision of their three children. Their children are severely autistic and present with destructive behavior(s), which results in breaking windows, shredding books, notebooks, etc. Their parents are currently unable to pay for the window repairs. Their youngest child, 5 ½ is not potty trained thus far, and one of the kiddos is non-verbal. While the caregivers are employed, the financial resources and the around the clock care needed has strained them financially, emotionally and psychologically. They cannot afford anything outside basic needs and have not been able to normally attend family reunions or social gatherings in years as a result of nobody (even among family) being willing to supervise and care for the children. During the CYS visit, the effects of the children’s behaviors were obvious in terms of the environmental conditions. Mother and father, while present, stated that they wait until the end of each day to pick up the mess as it is ongoing. While agency is currently coordinating the provision of additional services, they are in urgent need of several pieces of furniture. One of the kiddos is in need of a new mattress (twin size), the three children could benefit from having dressers (the children do not have where to properly store their clean clothes) and the family could benefit from having a couch which cushions do not come off for the living room (they have very limited furniture). Thanks.

Crib for 3 month male

Three month old male child found without a crib, parents are practicing safe sleep precautions but cannot afford to buy a crib. A crib is requested over a pack n play as the child is growing very quick in size and for safety reasons would be better suited with a crib vs pack n play.
