FOOD

Critical
17 days left

There has been an issue with SNAP (Food Stamps) in our community that has left many families without their budgeted food allowance until May. They will not be reimbursed for the lost balances. We have had a surge in requests for emergency food and now we know why. One example that was just brought to our attention today is a Mom (that we have directly worked with) who just had her two toddlers returned full time to her care. We are so proud of the hard work she has done and the challenges she has overcome. Losing her SNAP benefits 4 days after her children moved home was not expected and we would like to help. We are not listing separate food items for logistics sake but instead here are few ideas. We would also like to request Walmart gift cards. We are unable to store much quantity of meat, cheese, eggs and frozen items for lack of space. Cereal Oatmeal Granola Bars Infant/Toddler mixed fruit and veggie pouches Yogurt pouches Peanut Butter Jelly Flour Tortillas (These don't expire foe a long time!) Mac n Cheese Canned Meat Snacks Canned Fruit Crackers Canned corn, tomatoes, potatoes etc... Canned meals: Ravioli, Spaghettios etc... Juice boxes And whatever else your family likes that would be shelf stable!

Fence around a yard

High
15 days left

A 5 year old boy who has been diagnosed with Autism and is non verbal was adopted by his grandparents. Despite many efforts he keeps finding ways to get out of the home. For Safety purposes, the family would like to install a fence around the yard so that when he does get outside there is an enclosed area that he can remain in safely. The initial estimate for this fence was $10,000 which the family is not able to afford. We are looking for financial donations or if there is a company that would be willing to assist at a lower cost.

Seeking assistance in securing two brand-new, unopened laptops for a pair of 16-year-old students currently living in a kinship care home. Their caregivers are doing everything they can to support them, but do not have the financial means to purchase these essential items. These teens are incredibly motivated and dedicated to their education. They are dual-enrolled, completing their junior year of high school while also taking college courses at the local community college this summer. They consistently earn straight A's and are working hard to pursue their future goals both hoping to continue their studies in Early Childhood Education. However, without proper technology, they wont have the tools they need to keep up with their coursework or achieve their full potential. If you are able or willing to meet this need, please contact Geanna Stenger at stengerg@diakon.org. Your support would make an immediate and meaningful impact on these students' educational success.
